Tahoe Daily Tribune Staff Reports

A teenager was cited and released for unlawfully causing a fire after a 28-foot, parked sailboat was destroyed by fire, a South Lake Tahoe police officer said.

The 16-year-old was with two other juveniles who were seen in the area of Tata Lane and Clement Street by witnesses. Police swept the area after the Monday afternoon fire and found the teenagers on foot, Sgt. Brian Williams said.

After initially denying the incident, one of the teenagers said he was trying to light some rope in the boat with a lighter, Williams said.

The teenager was given a citation. The newly purchased, used boat, which was parked next to a shed, touched water only when it was hit by a firefighter’s hose.

Woman released after accident

The woman who on Monday rolled her Toyota 4Runner on Highway 50 just north of Skyland has been identified as Rvon Dillon, 30, of South Lake Tahoe.

Calstar, a medical helicopter service based at Lake Tahoe Airport, transported Dillon to Washoe Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries to her head and released.
