USDA food to be distributed

The USDA Surplus Food distribution will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27, at Carson Valley Community Food Closet, 1255 Waterloo Lane, near Lampe Park in Gardnerville, from 8 a.m. until noon. This is a one day only distribution.

A variety of foods will be available, including such items as canned apricots, oatmeal, rice cereal, Great Northern beans, macaroni and corn.

The Emergency Food Assistance is geared to those who are on the Food Stamp Program, seniors and those on Social Security who qualify. Each recipient must present identification, a food voucher and proof of income. There are several areas of qualification.



For information regarding qualification, call Diane Malone, food closet director, at 782-3711, Monday or Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m.
