SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – For the eighth year, V-Day is returning to South Lake Tahoe.

V-Day is a worldwide organization that spreads awareness, raises money for local organizations, and fights violence against women and girls.

To celebrate V-Day, a group of community performers and volunteers will perform and produce “The Vagina Monologues,” a play by Eve Ensler. For the past two years V-day has presented another piece by Ensler, “A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and Prayer.”

This community event raises money for local organizations including the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, Tahoe Youth and Family Services and Court Appointed Special Advocates.

“The fundraising is important, but even more so is the awareness and message that V-Day brings,” said Natalie Yanish, a spokeswoman for the event.

A casting call and volunteer meeting for all men and women interested in participating will be held at 6 p.m. Friday. Those who are interested can call 775-843-7142 or e-mail nategoddess@yahoo.com for more details.
