“The Vagina Monologues” is back at South Shore’s annual V-Day event.

Eve Ensler’s play will be presented at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in the Blue Angel Cafe in South Lake Tahoe.

Ninety percent of the funds will benefit local organizations, the Family Resource Center Mother’s Support Group, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center Emergency Services, Tahoe Youth & Family Services Little Latinas Program and CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocate. Ten percent goes to women and family organizations in Haiti.

“A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer” were presented in Tahoe the past two years.

V-Day is an international movement to stop violence against females. It promotes events designed to educate, fundraiser and invigorate the spirit of anti-violence organizations. “V” stand for Victory, Valentine and Vagina.

More than 5,400 V-Day benefits were held last year, raising more than $4 million. The international project was for the second year the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This is the eighth year a V-Day event has been held in Tahoe, according to organizer Natalie Yanish.

A dress rehearsal will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the Divided Sky at Meyers. Tickets are $5.
