Valhalla announces September lineup

The annual Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival continues in September with events throughout the month.

The Tahoe Dance Band performs at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Grand Hall. The 17-piece band plays big band and swing with fox trots, waltzes, tangos and polkas. Tickets are $15/$12/$5.

Viva Valhalla, a celebration of Tahoe’s Latino culture, will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Grand Lawn. The event will include sounds of Latin culture, colorful dancing and traditional food and drink.

The Good Guy performs at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9-12. The Sunday performance is at 2 p.m. The show features Sacramento radio and television personality Paul Robins.

Ruby Dee and the Snake Handlers perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Boathouse Theatre. The four-piece combo from Austin, Texas, plays Americana honky-tonk rockabilly. Tickets are $18/$15.

A Celebration of Writers will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Grand Hall. The Tahoe Writers Works hosts talent from around the lake for an evening of prose. Tickets are $10 and include a 7 p.m. wine reception and 7:30 p.m. reading.

Joni Morris as Patsy Cline performs Sept. 24 at the Boathouse Theatre. The show will feature Morris and her four-piece band “After Midnight.” Tickets are $25/$20.

Bare Bones Open Mic takes the Boathouse stage at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 with a variety of music, comedy, spoken word and a creative stage for musicians, writers, comedians and all other performing artists.
