Vehicle fire on Tallac Avenue under control
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After reports of explosions and fire on Tallac Avenue, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) responded to a vehicle fire at 4:00 p.m. The fire was quickly put out, but a nearby house’s fence and trees suffered property damage.

The vehicle, which was parked adjacent to a fence and under a pine tree, ignited around 4:00 p.m. with flames leaping from the vehicle into the branches and charring the fence. The noise during its ignition caused reports of explosions and fire from neighbors.
SLTFR responded with Engine 1 and 3 and Battalion 3, and due to the property damage, upgraded the situation from a vehicle fire to a structural fire. According to dispatch, the flame was extinguished by 4:07 p.m.
While the cause is still being investigated, the car was not a hybrid or electric vehicle, eliminating at least some of the possibilities. The owner of the vehicle was not present at the time the Tribune was on the scene.
