Vehicles robbed at Gardner Mountain
The South Lake Tahoe Police Department is warning residents and visitors to lock car doors after a rash of vehicle thefts in the Gardner Mountain area.
Detective Danny Mosquira said wandering juveniles target unlocked cars and steal things such as cellular phones, compact discs and wallets.
Mosquira advised people to call the police department so units can check the area if a group of juveniles are seen walking around at night from 10 p.m. to midnight.
“These guys generally won’t break into cars because they find plenty that are unlocked,” he said.
Gardner Mountain is the area near South Tahoe High School that includes roads such as Tata Lane and 13th Street.
“It’s not to the point right now where it’s an epidemic,” Mosquira said. “I just want to get the word out.”
