Veteran’s Day observed Tuesday

Tribune Staff Report

Veteran’s Day will be observed Tuesday in South Lake Tahoe with a ceremony at the American Legion Post 795 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

Originally scheduled to coincide with the signing of the armistice that ended World War One, today, the holiday honors all of those who served in the nation’s armed services.

Both Lake Tahoe Unified and Douglas County school districts, along with most government offices – including post offices – and banks will be closed on Tuesday in observance of the holiday.

Lake Tahoe Community College classes will close Monday in commemoration of the holiday but will reopen Tuesday.

The ceremonies at the Legion hall, at 2748 U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe, will be followed by an open house at the facility. The public is invited to attend.
