The Washoe County Sheriff’s Coroner’s office confirmed Doyle John Bourchers III of Palo Alto died in a plane crash Thursday night or Friday morning northwest of Incline Village.

Bourchers, 41, was the only person in a four-seat Cessna 172 that crashed into the side of Mount Baldy, about two miles northwest of Incline Village.

It is unknown exactly when the airplane crashed, officials said, and an official cause has yet to be determined.

Brooke Keast, public-information officer for the sheriff’s office, said Washoe County Search and Rescue teams found the plane Friday morning after it was spotted by helicopters shortly after dawn.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said Bourchers took off from the Palo Alto Airport at about 8:10 p.m. Thursday. He said Bourchers did not file a flight plan with that airport before taking off.
