Vikings baseball routed by Fernley

Tribune staff report

The South Tahoe Vikings lost 10-0 to Fernley on Wednesday. Senior Colton Marchesseault pitched four solid innings, allowing one run and striking out four.

“Colton threw great for us,” coach Starbuck Teevan said. “It’s our other pitchers coming in, in relief we need to get straight.”

Marchesseault went 1-2, along with Bobby Oaks. Grant Jones also went 1-2. The Vikings are winless on the season, and Teevan stressed his team has work to do.

“This team needs to develop an identity, otherwise the season could get away from us quick,” he said. “Knowing our strike zone, being aggressive in hitter’s counts, tough with two strikes – three things we need to focus on.

The Vikings game against Whittell scheduled for Saturday has been postponed.
