Vikings don’t lose a game in singles to stretch record to 8-0

No team could have been more dominant in singles play than the South Tahoe High girls’ tennis team was on Thursday at Incline.

The Vikings won all nine singles matches by 6-0 counts as Rebecca Roberts, Maggie Lee and Cassandra Marin each earned three victories in a 17-1 STHS romp.

Angel Aquino and Marriela Penollar continued their dominance of the Sierra League, winning all three of their matches while dropping just two games. Amanda and Emily Rives won two matches, as did Rosalie Annand and Kelsey Metzger.



South Tahoe (8-0) plays at Truckee on Tuesday.

Vikings return to winning form



South Tahoe snapped a two-match boys’ tennis losing streak by throttling Incline 15-3 on Thursday in South Lake Tahoe.

The Vikings won seven of nine singles matches, with No. 1 singles player Phillip Gaston collecting two wins and Chad Kaassamani and Michael Bott picking up two victories as well. In doubles, the Vikings only dropped one match, with Gregory Baghdikian and partner Grant Jones going undefeated, as well as teammates Colton Marchesseault and Kolton Van Pelt. Bryan Holmes and Hayden Bronken delivered two match wins.

The Vikings (5-3) play host to Truckee on Tuesday in their final home match.
