Vikings end season with win at Damonte Ranch

South Tahoe completed a season sweep of Damonte Ranch with a 57-48 victory on Friday in Reno.

The Vikings picked up their fourth Sierra League victory behind a combined 31 points from seniors Thomas Eidam and Ricky Braun.

“We started sluggishly, but we got a good offensive rhythm going,” said STHS assistant coach Jordan Bugarske. “They gave us their toughest run, but we just battled hard.”

The South Tahoe junior varsity boys’ basketball team made a valiant effort at victory Friday with a seven-player roster.

South Tahoe led by six points in the first half before Damonte Ranch rallied to win 45-43 in Reno. Clint Padilla and Miltaiye Vasquez combined for three trifectas and each netted nine points for the Vikings.

Nunes-Fenley leads Vikes in final game

Damonte Ranch ended the South Tahoe girls’ basketball season with a 59-35 victory on Friday in Reno.

Alexis Nunes-Fenley scored 12 points to lead South Tahoe in her final game, and Terra Backinger added seven.

“Lexi had like 15 rebounds tonight. She had a real good game,” said STHS coach Chris Holmes

The Vikings, who finished 3-11 in league, played their final two games without senior point guard Alexis Holmes. Holmes tore an ACL in last week’s senior win against Fallon.
