Vikings’ frosh girls’ team finishes 5-0 homestand
It was a memorable five-game homestand for the South Tahoe High freshman girls’ basketball team
South Tahoe completed a 5-0 homestand Saturday with wins against Lowry and Truckee.
Relying on their defensive play, the Vikings ran away from Lowry 35-18. Rose Campion led the Vikings with 12 points, Shelly Leonard and Chloe Nolan each scored six points and Karley Martinez tossed in five. Both of Nolan’s baskets were three-pointers.
In game two, South Tahoe continued its strong defensive play, clamping down on Truckee 31-15. Campion scored nine points, Karley Martinez added eight, and Raquel Marchesseault netted seven. Campion and Marchesseault each drained a three-point shot.
On Friday night, the Vikings had a much tougher time with the Wolverines, winning 27-24.
With the scored tied at 24, Kaila Griffis hit a tie-breaking free throw and Campion closed out the scoring with a rebound basket.
Campion led the way with 15 points, while Karley Martinez contributed five points and 11 rebounds, and Shelly Leonard connected for four points.
