Vikings place eighth in Reed Invitational

South Tahoe High’s girls’ track and field team placed eighth out of 28 teams at the Reed Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Sparks.

The Vikings’ distance medley relay team placed first in 13 minutes, 26.9 seconds, and two-time state championship winner Kelsey Smith placed runner-up in the 1,600 meters. South Tahoe’s 4×100 relay team also placed second, and Kylie Noll and Shelby McIntyre were fourth and fifth, respectively in the 1,600.

The STHS boys were led by Chris Klug, who finished third in the 40-yard football dash, fifth in the 100 meters and sixth in the long jump. Klug’s efforts helped the boys place 14th in the team standings.

Whittell’s Hannah Daly placed runner-up in the shot put.

Meanwhile, on the baseball diamond, Manogue completed a three-game sweep of the Vikings, winning 12-2 and 7-1 on Saturday in Reno.
