Vikings raise tennis record to 7-0
South Tahoe only lost three matches en route to a 15-3 girls’ tennis drubbing of Galena on Tuesday in Reno.
The win raised the Sierra League-leading Vikings’ record to 7-0.
The Vikings won eight of nine singles matches, with Rebecca Roberts and Maggie Lee delivering three piece. Roberts won her matches, 6-3, 6-0 and 6-1, while Lee topped her foes, 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1.
Marriela Penollar and Angel Aquino, the unbeaten Vikings’ doubles team, won 6-3 and 6-2 before being subbed out in the third round. Sisters Amanda and Emily Rives lost only four games in winning three doubles matches.
STHS doubles team stays unbeaten
South Tahoe High lost its second successive boys’ tennis match at home, falling to Galena 13-5 Tuesday in South Lake Tahoe.
The doubles pair of Colton Marchesseault and Kolton Van Pelt provided three of the Vikings’ wins, taking their three sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. The No. 1 Vikings’ doubles team is 21-0 in matches this season.
Other STHS winners on Tuesday were No. 3 doubles team Hayden Bronken and Bryan Holmes and No. 2 duo Gregory Baghdikian and Grant Jones.
The Vikings (4-3) play host to Incline on Thursday at 3 p.m.
