Vikings’ skiers lead All-State Academic Team honorees

South Tahoe High’s skiing team led the way in academic achievement during the winter sports season.

The Vikings boys and girls’ skiers placed eight team members on the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association All-State Academic Team. To earn the honor, the student-athlete needed to earn straight A’s during the first term.

Earning the honor from the ski team were Ashley Killeen, Melissa Ewing, Madison Bowman, Benjamin Sullivan, Brady Hiob, Luca Genasci, Jason Elder and Jack Coolbaugh.

The Vikings’ varsity boys’ basketball team had three All-Staters in Peter Pielaet-Strayer, Kory DiGrande and McQuade Brubaker. Also making the grade were girls’ basketball player Sarah Breisacher and cheer members Stephanie Zepeda and Brittany Rohrich.

The student-athletes were given a certificate to acknowledge their achievement on Wednesday at the school’s winter sports awards banquet.
