Vikings to play Wolverines at Aces Ballpark on April 19

South Tahoe and Truckee high schools have been given the green light to play their nonleague baseball game at Aces Ballpark on April 19 in Reno.

There will be free admission for the 4 p.m. game at the home of the Triple-A team for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The one-year-old stadium has a capacity for 9,100 fans.

The Vikings and Wolverines will be the first high school teams to play a game at Aces Ballpark, according to South Tahoe coach Don Amaral, whose team has been unable to play a home game yet at Todd Fields because a foot of snow still covers the field.

“I just asked. I’m not afraid to ask,” Amaral said.

Vikings’ players will be selling $7 tickets to Aces’ 2010 home games scheduled on Wednesdays through Sundays. A portion of the tickets sales will go to the STHS baseball program.

In addition, the Vikings are holding a winetasting fundraiser at 7 p.m. April 7 at Tep’s Villa Roma in South Lake Tahoe. Tickets are $35 and are only available to the first 100 purchasers.
