Volunteer drivers needed for home-delivered meal service

Provided to the Tribune

The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program Home-Delivered Meal Service currently has a critical need for volunteer drivers.

Senior Nutrition Program volunteer drivers deliver meals once per week from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, and also check on the wellbeing of program participants.

“For many homebound seniors, the daily personal contact with the volunteer driver is as vital as the meal,” Ruth Green, program coordinator for the Home-Delivered Meal Service, stated in a press release. “We are looking for caring, dedicated people who are willing to reach out to their neighbors through this important program.” Volunteers not available for a weekly commitment can serve as back-up drivers who fill in as needed.

The Senior Nutrition Program is a service of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency. To volunteer, or for information about the Senior Nutrition Program, call 530-621-6160.
