Provided to the Tribune

In exchange for a little volunteer work, you can stay at the beautiful Loon Lake Chalet during the Tahoe Green Party’s volunteer cleanup from Sept. 5 to 7.

Located at 6,600 feet, Loon Lake is in the western portion of the Desolation Wilderness, and the chalet features a small kitchenette, sleeping pads and water, and you can fish, hike and swim before and after cleanup.

Loon Lake can be reached off Highway 50 and Ice House Road, about 90 minutes from South Lake Tahoe and Placerville.

Tools will be provided, but a hat and gloves are recommended, along with your own food and personal supplies to deal with cold nighttime temperatures.

Space is limited. To sign up, call (530) 541-7729 or e-mail tahoegreenparty@yahoo.com.
