Warriors finish second in Winnemucca golf tournament

Steve Yingling, Tribune sports editor

Whittell High School nearly put all five of its team-scoring golfers in the 70s in finishing runner-up in a tournament on Friday in Winnemucca.

Three Warriors shared team scoring honors with Trevor Fairbank, Jake Williams and T.J. Kolesnik each firing 79s. Michael Koskin and Nick Seemack were in the mix, too, with 82.

“The kids played great,” said Whittell coach Steve Maltase.

The Warriors are scheduled to play at Arrowcreek on Tuesday, then host an invitational on Friday at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
