Warriors-Highlanders’ match ends in scoreless tie

Sylas Wright / Tribune News ServiceWhittell High School's Marlo Smith heads the ball against Incline on Thursday in Incline Village.

Whittell and Incline played to a 0-0 tie Thursday night in a 3A Sierra League girls’ soccer match in Incline Village.

The Warriors’ best chance to score came in the 77th minute when Incline keeper Sarah Wright crept outside the box to thwart a Whittell run, leaving the goal open. Sierra Forvilly tried to make Wright pay but missing high and wide of the mark.

“It was a really good defensive effort from both teams,” said Whittell coach Patrick Kelly. “Incline’s keeper and their sweeper did a great job, and I thought our entire defense did a great job.”

Whittell is 0-3-2 in league play, while Incline is 1-3-1.
