Warriors sweep nonleague games vs. Smith Valley

The Warriors ran their overall record to 15-6 with a 13-3 six-inning victory over Smith Valley on Tuesday at Lampe Park.

Julian Washalefsky threw four inings, striking out five and allowing one earned run in earning the win. Adam Laub threw the final two innings. Washalefsky helped himself at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two RBI. Laub was 2 for 3, three runs scored and two stolen bases; Alex Vogt 1 for 3 with two RBI; Ben Ward 1 for 3 with a double; Cody Nelson 1 for 3 with two RBI; and freshman Eric Ward had the game-ending RBI single.

The Warriors meet ROP for a doubleheader Saturday in Yerington.



Pritzker pitches Warriors to win

Solid defense and the pitching of Justina Pritzker carried Whittell High to a 7-3 nonleague softball victory over Smith Valley on Tuesday at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.



Pritzker gave up two hits and three runs, struck out four and walked two in earning the victory. Behind her, the defense committed just one error.

“All in all, a good night for us,” said Whittell coach Rich Barna.

Providing the Warriors with base hits were Pritzker, Rachel Laub and Marissa Besson.

Whittell will play at Truckee on Thursday.
