Warriors to play Battle Mountain in regional tournament

Whittell had to wait until Rite of Passage routed Battle Mountain on the final day of the regular season on Saturday to learn its Northern 2A regional boys’ basketball tournament opponent.

The Warriors will meet third-seeded Battle Mountain at 7 p.m. Thursday at Wooster High School in Reno. The winner will advance to play second-seeded ROP at 4:40 p.m. Friday in the tournament semifinals at Wooster High. Top-seeded Incline will play either Lovelock or Silver Stage in the other semifinal.

Battle Mountain defeated Whittell twice during the regular season, 57-48 at Whittell and 58-41 at Battle Mountain.
