Washoe school bosss gives resignation

RENO- Washoe County’s deputy school superintendent is leaving for greener pastures.

Jim Welsh has accepted a new job as superintendent of the 10,000-student Shoreline School District near Seattle beginning in July.

Welsh has been the Washoe County school district’s chief operations officer for the past two years.

In his new post, Welsh will receive an annual salary of $141,000, not including expense allowances. That’s a $37,000 increase over his current base pay.
