Watershed group hosting free films

The Upper Truckee River Watershed Stewardship Group will host two films tonight at Heavenly Village as part of its monthly watershed film series.

“Hurricane on the Bayou” highlights the importance of preserving wetlands against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina, while “The Last Stand: Heroes at Ballona Wetlands” documents a community’s stand against the development of one of the last remaining wetlands in Southern California.

The films will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Urban Trailhead in Heavenly Village and are free and open to the public.

A discussion will follow the films. For more information, contact Sarah Curtis at (530) 541-5388 or sarah@keeptahoeblue.org.
