‘We Can!’ challenge begins this week

The We Can! Challenge for week one: Drink two glasses of water each day.

For the next nine weeks, elementary school students will embark on the nine-week “We Can!” program, distributed by Barton Heath to fourth, fifth and sixth graders in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District and youth at the Boys and Girls Club.

The “We Can!” program, designed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, focuses on healthy food choices, physical activity, emotional well being and alternatives to television and computer games.

During the nine-week program, youngsters will take on a new health challenge each week. Check the Tribune every Wednesday for a new challenge.
