It’s that time of the year again for an accurate school day weather forecast. The Sierra House Elementary School Weather Kids are back on the air.

This year, 14 Wee Weather Wizards have completed Dr. Jon Helman’s before-school weather class. The students observed or participated in experiments on the atmosphere and its control by the sun. They learned about heat transfer, the wind, clouds, precipitation, weather instruments and forecasting.

“We had a late start this year, but thanks to Steve Dorman, Lake Tahoe Unified School District chief electrician, our instruments are back in working order,” Helman said.

This year’s participants are Jamie Sandlin, Grant Jones, Cameryn Brock, Lauren Pickering, Janet Compuzano, Logan Nobleman, Himanshu Rambhai, Ian Fonken, Jason Reum, Michaela Hughes, Cameron Jennings, Hannah Green, Peter Duin and Jacob Francis.

For an up-to-date forecast, a joke or trivia, tune in every school day to AM 1490 KOWL and hear radio star Jerry Hurwitz and the Sierra House Weather Kids at 8:15 a.m.
