Weather Kids back on radio

Provided to the Tribune

The Sierra House Weather Kids broadcast the weather daily on two radio stations.

The Sierra House Weather Kids are back on the air. This year’s “Mini-Meteorologists” made their debut on KOWL 1490 AM and KRLT 93.3 FM on Oct. 24.

These 13 fifth-grade honor students completed Dr. Jon Helman’s before-school weather class. The curriculum included instruction about the atmosphere, heat source, air pressure, heat transfer winds and clouds, instruments, forecasting and storms. The students watched and/or participated in many experiments, some working and some not, making the classes fun.

To learn the real lowdown on what will happen weather-wise in the Lake Tahoe Basin be sure to tune in daily to the Boris Shiloff show at 8:15 a.m. or the Justin Wright program shortly thereafter on KOWL/KRLT.

Weather Class 2005-2006 members are Jordyn Dobson, Drew Norberg, Jack Coolbaugh, Brooke King, Leo Trebotich, Roger Williams, Daisylyn Perea, Sam Burba, Thomas Smith, Janelle Spandau, Cody Higgins, Bailey David and Conner Rettig.
