The weekend will bring a small chance of thunderstorms and slightly warmer temperatures to Lake Tahoe.

Sunny conditions, wind and slightly colder temperatures are in the forecast for Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. The high temperature will reach 57 degrees in South Lake Tahoe.

A lake wind advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Friday. Gusts on the lake could be as strong as 40 mph. Wave heights could be 2 to 4 feet high.

“Small boats, kayaks and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve,” the weather service warns.

Gusts as strong as 25 mph are possible later in the day.

The low temperature overnight will drop to 38 degrees.

Saturday will bring a slight chance of thunderstorms and showers starting around 11 a.m. The chance of precipitation as of Friday morning was at 20%.

However, the weather service notes that the chance of showers have been decreasing.

“Main change in the forecast was to continue to decrease chances for showers and storms through Saturday as ridging builds and increases stability aloft.”

Conditions will otherwise be sunny, with a high temperature around 61 degrees. Winds of 5-10 mph are possible.

Saturday’s low will dip to 40 degrees.

Similar conditions are in the forecast for Sunday, according to the weather service. A 20% chance of precipitation is expected largely after 11 a.m. Conditions will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 64 degrees.

The low temperature will be around 41 degrees.

The week is expected to start with a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms.
