Lake Tahoe weather: Sunny conditions, cold front expected this week
Lake Tahoe will see plenty of sunshine with warm temperatures this week until Thursday when a cold front is expected to drive temperatures down below average.
Monday will be sunny with a high temperature around 75 degrees on South Shore, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. Light winds will increase from 5-10 mph in the afternoon.
The overnight low will drop to 54 degrees.
Tuesday will be similar to Monday, with slightly warmer temperatures. The high will reach 77 degrees and the low will fall to 55 degrees.
Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high temperature of 79 degrees. Light winds will range from 5-10 mph. Conditions will be warm. The overnight low will be around 54 degrees.
Thursday will mark a reversal in the warming trend. The high temperature will hit 73 degrees. Conditions will be mostly sunny and breezy.
“A cold trough will drop into the west the end of the week with winds increasing ahead of the associated cold front,” according to the weather service. “Wind gusts on Thursday could easily reach 25-35 mph with continued post-frontal breeziness on Friday. The ongoing dry conditions along with increased winds could bring fire weather concerns, dependent on the state on the fuels.”
Thursday’s overnight low will drop to 48 degrees.
Friday will be 10 degrees colder than temperatures earlier in the week. The high temperature is expected to reach the mid-60s.
