A blast of winter has moved into Lake Tahoe this morning with heavy snow that is sticking to the asphalt and causing road and chain requirements throughout the basin. The following roads have controls as of 7:30 this morning:
I-80 – Chains mandatory for 31.44 miles between Nyack California Exit 156 and 1.76 miles west of Truckee California Exit 188A.
Highway 50: Chains mandatory for 18.07 miles between 3.49 miles east of Kyburz California and 4.1 miles west of Junction of California State Route 89.
Snowtires or chains required for 6.18 miles between 0.5 miles west of Glenbrook and 6.9 miles west of Junction Highway 395 at South Carson City.
Highway 28: Snowtires or chains required for 7.44 miles between Junction US 50 and 8.73 miles south of California state line.
Highway 88: Chains mandatory for 19.4 miles between Hams Station California and Silver Lake.
Chains mandatory for 6.7 miles between 6.7 miles west of Junction State Route 89 at Picketts Junction and Junction State Route 89 at Picketts Junction.
Highway 89: Chains mandatory for 7.69 miles between 2.8 miles north of Junction
US 50 and Bliss State Park.
Snowtires or chains required for 8.45 miles between 5 miles north of Junction California State Route 28 at Tahoe City California and Junction Interstate 80 at Truckee California.
Highway 207 Kingsbury Grade: Snowtires or chains required for 4.8 miles between Junction Highway 50 and 6.5 miles west of Junction State Route 206.
Highway 431: Snowtires or chains required for 14.2 miles between Junction State
Route 28 and 10.33 miles south of Junction US 395.
Highway 267: Chains mandatory for 6.7 miles between Northstar and Junction California 28 at Kings Beach.
