Wednesday’s forecast: Mild temperatures through the weekend

A broad upper level ridge of high pressure over the area will keep the storm track or jet stream mainly across the Pacific Northwest over the next several days.

A milder west to northwest flow aloft off the Pacific will keep temperatures near or a little above seasonal normals through the weekend. Highs today are forecast to reach near 40 degrees around the lake and in the lower 30s at the 8,000 foot resort level.

Cloudy skies this morning will give way to partial clearing in the afternoon with southwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Lows tonight are expected to drop into the teens under mostly cloudy skies.

A broad area of clouds associated with a warm front will spread over the area Thursday having little affect on daytime temperatures which are expected to reach the lower to mid 40s by afternoon. Falling pressures over the Great Basin Thursday will cause southwest winds to pick up around 15 to 25 mph at lake level and gusts to 70 mph along the Sierra crest during the day.

Look for even warmer daytime temperatures Friday and Saturday with highs topping out in the mid to upper 40s under mostly sunny skies.
