Weekend Booster Club tournaments sold out

A joint fundraising effort that brings Whittell and South Tahoe high schools together for the same cause appears to be getting a break in the weather.

The 23rd annual South Tahoe and Whittell Booster Club Tournament scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course should be played under sunny skies.

Both days of the tournament have been sold out.

“It’s a good community event, and I think it’s the only event that brings both schools together for the same cause,” said tournament director Paul Andrew.

The schools evenly split revenue generated from the two-day tournament to assist in funding for athletics and academic programs.

“In the past we’ve made upwards of $14,000-$15,000 per school,” said Andrew, who has directed the event the for seven years. “Edgewood donates the course and its staff, and they do such a great job for the community.”

Edgewood adds second Locals’ Day

Due to a large response, Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course has added a second Locals’ Day on Wednesday, May 5. The first Locals’ Day is Tuesday.

Area residents have until midnight tonight to enter at EdgewoodTahoe.com/localsday. Only residents of Glenbrook, Zephyr Cove, Stateline, South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Gardnerville and Minden are eligible. Randomly selected players will be notified, and they’ll be able to play the course at a cost of $50.

Edgewood Tahoe’s official opening day is May 6 but there will be some public play on May 5.
