The Douglas County Public Library will offer Food for Fines Dec. 6 through 31. For each can or box of food donated, patrons may either waive an overdue fine or choose a free book from the library’s sale rack.

All proceeds will go to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. For more information call Linda Wilson at (775) 782-9841.

Celtic music jam Thursday

The community is welcome to join in a Celtic music jam session the first Thursday of each month at Mulligan’s Irish Pub, 3600 Lake Tahoe Blvd., next to Super 8 Motel. The jam session begins at 8 p.m. and continues “until they throw us out.” The next session will take place this Thursday.

Everyone is invited to join in the monthly evening of fun and carrying-on in the Celtic tradition. Anyone who plays the fiddle, sings like an angel or can just clap their hands is encouraged to bring their instruments and appetites for an informal gathering of like-minded folks. Drink specials are available for performers.

For more information call (530) 541-8986 or e-mail PiperSeanCummings@Yahoo.com.
