The Breast Cancer Support Group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

The next meeting will be today and Judi Sparrow, a breast cancer survivor, will be the facilitator.

It’s an opportunity for meeting other women who are breast cancer survivors and sharing information and support.

The members help each other through a very difficult time in their lives, no matter what stage of the disease they are in.

Dress up for teen dance

The city of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a semiformal teen dance from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Recreation and Swim Pool Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

This dance is for sixth- to eighth-graders and student ID is required.

The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. with basketball, then at 7:30 p.m. the lights dim and the music begins.

The cost is $4 at the door. Dress up semiformal and enter the dance for $3. Refreshments will be sold.

Party includes drawing for TV

American Legion Post 795 will host a Christmas party for adults Saturday at the Legion Hall, 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd., across from Meeks Building Center. The public is welcome to attend.

A Christmas present exchange for American Legion members will start at 5 p.m. and the Christmas party for the public is scheduled begins at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and have fun.

A drawing for a 20-inch flat screen TV set and other prizes will take place at 8 p.m. Tickets are $1 for three or $5 for 20.

The party will include music by the Cash Only Band and snack foods. A no-host bar will be open.

Dance features big band music

The Tahoe Dance Band will play big band music for dancing and listening from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. All ages are welcome.

Admission is $6 per person at the door and includes big band dancing, cheese and wine, desserts and coffee, door prizes and fun for all.

Santa coming to bookstore

Santa Claus is coming to Neighbors Bookstore in the Village Center to visit with all the girls and boys.

The jolly fellow will be available to listen to children’s Christmas wishes and pose for photos from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Dec. 23.

Cookies, hot chocolate and coffee will be available. Parents are encouraged to bring their camera to capture a special moment of their little one sitting on Saint Nicholas’ lap and whispering in his ear.
