-Street Law Forum on Real Estate Law
The sixth presentation in the series of Street Law Forums will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the El Dorado County Courthouse, 1354 Johnson Blvd.
The topic for this week’s free educational program is “Seller’s Lament, Buyer’s Remorse and Comissionless Brokers: Avoiding the Pitfalls of Buying Selling and Brokering a Home.” This program will give the audience an overview of contract basics and dealing with “forms”. This session will be presented by local attorneys George Echan, Michael P. Hambsch and L. Mark Bissonnette.
The Street Law Forums are presenting a different topic each week through Dec. 11. These forums are co-sponsored by the El Dorado County Superior Court and the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.

-Republican women meeting at Horizon
The Lake Tahoe Nevada Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting at the Horizon Casino. The guest speaker will be the Honorable Michael Gibbons. Social Hour begins at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at noon. Tickets are $13 and reservations may be made by calling Cindy Stone at 775-588-9204. Reservation deadline is Monday, Oct. 15.
-Better Breathers will meet about Tai Chi
Better Breathers is a local group formed to help patients, friends and family members learn more about breathing and how to maximize their health. This month the meeting will be held on Thurs Oct., 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lounge Meeting Room at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. a.m. This meeting will feature Tai Chi and Breathing Exercises in videos and demonstrations. Basic Tai Chi techniques to reduce stress and boost vitality will be demonstrated. It also helps increase endurance for patients with breathing difficulties. Diaphragmatic breathing exercises will also be reviewed. In future meetings, prevention of influenza and pneumonia will be discussed as well as detecting dangers in the home. -Strange Brew hosts backgammon eventOn Thursday Oct. 18 a Backgammon Tournament will be held at Strange Brew Coffeehouse. Sign up starts at 7 p.m. sharp. There is a $10 entry fee and the winner takes all. Please bring a board if you have one. There is limited space so please call to reserve a place.
