-Christmas Cheer distributes toys, food

Christmas Cheer will conduct its annual toy distribution from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Lake Tahoe Airport. Volunteers are needed to assist families in toy selection and gift wrapping. Tahoe Youth and Family Services will be on hand to wrap items free of charge. Area Transit Management will provide free shuttle service between the “Y” transit terminal and the airport.

To volunteer call the pantry or Community Services at (530) 573-3490. Families in need of assistance with holiday gifts can register with the Christmas Cheer pantry at (530) 542-4934. Toy and cash donations are being accepted at Christmas Cheer.

The food distribution for Christmas Cheer will take place Dec. 19, 20 and 21 at the pantry, 2085 Eloise Ave. As with toy assistance, families are asked to register in advance. Call Christmas Cheer for times and eligibility information.

-Women’s Center helps with holiday stress

The holiday season can be a stressful time for many families. Children can be affected by verbal and physical abuse. Give your children the gift of a violence-free environment. There are alternatives. Call the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center at (530) 544-4444.
