August 10, 2005
In 2005 Medicare began covering more preventive services, and starting in 2006 Medicare will make prescription drug coverage available to all people with Medicare.
Medicare still offers the same basic coverage along with new benefits and more choices. Drug coverage changes may result in changes to your current supplement insurance choices. These are significant changes to the Medicare program. People with limited incomes and resource, including savings, stocks and bonds, but not counting a home, may be able to get extra help with drug plan costs.
The South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd., will host a talk designed to discuss these changes at 12:15 p.m. Thursday. This information will be presented by the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program. For more information call the senior center at (530) 542-6094.
