Douglas County Democratic Women will hold their next monthly luncheon April 3 at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden. Guest speaker will be Jim Gibson, Henderson mayor and candidate for governor. There will be a brief business meeting following the speaker.

Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with a buffet lunch served at noon. The cost is $15 per person in advance and $18 at the door. For reservations contact Katherine Winans at (775) 267-1239 or jkw@abis.com.

Talk’s focus is women’s health

A seminar titled “The Healthy Woman at Any Age,” glowing skin, sensible diet and strong body, will be presented at 7 p.m. April 5 at the South Lake Tahoe Library conference room, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

Sponsored by Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra, the free seminar is open to the public and refreshments will be served. The seminar is on the importance of good health habits leading to life-long fitness, well-being and a vigorous and active life throughout the younger, middle and older years. Speakers will be Sean Degnan, M.D., cosmetic dermatologist; June Denney, R.D., nutritional consultant; and Darla Mazzoni, P.F.T., certified personal trainer.
