The Family Resource Center in collaboration with Bank of America invites the Mexican community to take advantage of the services offered by the Mexican Consulate from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Family Resource Center, 3501 B Spruce Ave.

Help will be available for Mexican nationals wishing to renew their Mexican passport and/or consular card. For more information call (530) 542-0740.

Sheriff seeking retirees for team



The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department is looking for volunteers to join the Sheriff’s Team of Active Retirees program in South Lake Tahoe. Qualified applicants will attend an academy for two weeks and be trained to provide community services, primarily focused on being the eyes and ears of the sheriff’s department, by patrolling the county area in vehicles provided by the STAR program.

Members also provide vacation home checks, assist local organizations with special events such as the Air Fest, Drug Store Project, Arts Festival and events held at the Valhalla Site.



Eligibility and qualifications to apply to the STAR program include: be a person of good moral standards; pass a background check; provide a physician’s clearance; at least 50 years old and a U.S. citizen; be willing to volunteer at least 19 hours per month.
