Friends with Compassion (formerly called Compassionate Friends), a support group for families who have lost a child of any age, will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today for a barbecue at a private home.
The purpose of the group is to bring comfort and to help one another cope especially with holidays and people who don’t understand the effect of such a loss over time. Rebecca Phillipsen, social worker with Barton Hospice, who has worked with families to cope with grief at the loss of their loved ones, is the professional advisor to the group.
Anyone interested is welcome to attend. For information about the barbecue call Carol or Ron at (775) 588- 2864. For general information about the group call Arline at (775) 588-6997 or Jonquil at (530) 544-6892.
