The Kiwanis Sunrisers Foundation recently awarded donations in the amount of $18,304.00 to 23 recipients. The following groups and/or organizations were treated to a dinner at Stanford Sierra Camp.

Boys & Girls Club, Christmas Cheer, Civil Air Patrol, Douglas County Parks & Recreation, Elementary Arts Program, Family Resource Center, Soroptimist Tahoe Sierra Summer Reading Program, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, Sierra Recovery, Special Olympics, STHS Sober Grad Night, Tahoe Arts Project, Tahoe Youth & Family Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates, LTCC Kids College, LTCC Foundation MLK Clothing, LTUSD Drug Store Project, Kiwanis Family House, Douglas County Search & Rescue, Cub Scout Pack 468 at Zephyr Cove, Galilee Foundation, Tahoe Heritage Foundation and Teen Court.

Kiwanis is an organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child at a time.

Softball players invited to BBQ

Hey, all you softball players and fans – plan to celebrate the end of another successful softball season with a new tourney, barbecue and party. Co-sponsored by Steamers and the Goalpost, the first Softball “Border” Challenge Tourney will take place Aug. 28 and 29 at the Zephyr Cove Park fields.

Games start at 6 p.m. on both days.

Four men’s teams and two women’s teams will compete for softball bragging rights along the South Shore.

The summer leagues’ championship trophies will be presented, plus the highly coveted winner’s T-shirts. Along with the play each evening, there will be food, spirits, giveaways and drawings.
