The Whittell Boosters Club is having its annual fall barbecue on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Whittell High School.

Students, families and community members are welcome. This fun evening will feature chicken, burgers and hot dog dinners for $5 and includes music, games and the opportunity to socialize with other families in a casual setting. Call Karen Hayes at (775) 588-3379.

Vintage cars, hot dogs at event

Gary and Ron Michelsen invite the community to celebrate classic cars from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at Mike’s Exxon on lower Kingsbury Grade. Pre-1973 car owners will receive a free hot dog and fountain drink just for stopping by.

All are invited to candidate event

The Douglas County Democratic Central Committee is having a “Rally in the Valley” on Oct. 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Hollister Ranch off Jacks Valley Road in Genoa. Everyone, regardless of party affiliation, is welcome to come hear the candidates and enjoy great food, beverages and music. The cost is $5 per person.
