Two retail stores in the Village Center at Stateline have received shipments of shoes and other clothing they are giving away free of charge to any residents who lost their homes in the Angora fire. The merchandise is exclusively for affected homeowners.

Tahoe Sports Ltd have a couple hundred pairs of men’s, women’s and children’s Teva and Simple everyday shoes as well as some Columbia jackets. They are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Ugg footwear and a few jackets are available at Sidestreet Boutique. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Computer classes for kids at library

The South Lake Tahoe Branch Library will offer two sessions of children’s computer classes this summer. The classes will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. this Thursday and July 19. The series will cover word processing and Internet resources.

The classes are open to youths ages 5 to 10. It is requested that all attendees have prior experience using a mouse. Free mouse tutorials are available through the library computer lab. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their children.

Sign up by calling the library at (530) 573-3185 during library hours or stop by the library at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. Classes fill quickly. The computer lab is closed to the public during classes.

AARP to sponsor flea market at Senior Center

The American Association of Retired Persons, chapter 2617 will sponsor a flea market July 28 in the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center parking lot, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The public is invited to come and be sellers or shoppers for all the good, usable items. Included will be collectibles, crafts, jewelry, household and yard items and much more that individuals will be selling.

Individuals who have good, usable items to sell should sign up now for rental tables or spaces by stopping by the senior center office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. Table rental is $10 for use of a large table or $8 for a car space. Set-up time is 7:30 a.m. the morning of the sale. Tables are limited.

Also, in conjunction with the flea market, AARP will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. July 28 in the SLT Senior Center. It is an all-you-can-eat breakfast for only $3. It will include pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Sign up for Pop Warner football and cheer

Pop Warner football and cheer sign-ups have been scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd.

The cost is $150 for football and $75 for cheer. First-time players should bring a copy of their birth certificate and their last report card. Fee waivers will be available for any person displaced by the Angora fire. Practice will begin from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6 at South Tahoe High School.
