October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center will be hosting a number of events to recognize victims and survivors of intimate partner violence. South Lake Tahoe’s First Annual Silent Witness Memorial and Exhibit will take place on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in English and on Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. in Spanish.
Silent Witness is an art installation displayed in communities across the nation to raise awareness of the deadly and devastating effects of intimate partner violence and homicide. Silhouettes will be displayed bearing the names and true stories of victims from our local area who have been brutally murdered by intimate partners.
Please join us at South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd., to view the installation, to read these local stories, to listen to guest speakers, and to take part in a pledge to end violence and murder in our community.
For more information on October events please call South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center at (530) 544-2118 or visit our Web site at http://www.sltwc.org.
Hands-on BMP workshop at Women’s Center Saturday

Participants will learn by doing as they install BMPs on the site, guided by Conservation District employees who inspect and install BMPs daily.
