Reno Chamber Orchestra performing next weekend

The next concerts of the Reno Chamber Orchestra’s 2007-08 season are 8 p.m. Nov. 10 and 2 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Nightingale Concert Hall at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Music Director Theodore Kuchar will conduct a program featuring Ravel’s “Mother Goose Ballet” and “Symphony No. 85” by Haydn. Pianist Meng-Chieh Liu will be soloist in Fauré’s “Ballade” and “Piano Concerto No. 1” by Shostakovich.

Tickets and more information are available by calling (775) 348-9413 or by visiting RenoChamberOrchestra.org. Tickets for the rest of the season still are available at a substantial discount.

Pianist Liu, the 2002 recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, has performed all over the world, including numerous television and radio broadcasts and a Taiwanese National Television biography. Liu, a member of the faculty of Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute since 1993, is known to Reno audiences through his performances in the Nevada Chamber Music Festival, presented every December by the Reno Chamber Orchestra.

The orchestra, founded in 1974, provides performances of repertoire written for smaller orchestras. It works to instill and promote the appreciation of chamber orchestra music among audiences of varied ages, backgrounds and interests throughout the region.
