The Tahoe Dance Band invites everyone to a Valentine’s Dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Participants are encouraged to wear red clothing.

Men and women come alone to find dance partners or to just enjoy listening to the music and socializing.

Admission is $8 and includes wine, appetizers and desserts. The event includes a door and raffle prizes. For more information, call Francine at (530) 541-8380 or Arline at (775) 588-6997.

The staff at Lulu Hair Design will conduct a cut-a-thon to benefit Danielle Conway and her family March 9 at the salon inside Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Conway worked at LuLu Hair Design from December 2002 to January 2005.

Conway’s 11-year-old daughter, Kyra, died Feb. 12 due to complications of influenza B.

To help with the family’s medical costs, the staff at LuLu Hair Design will offer men’s haircuts for $25 and women’s for $40, with 100 percent of the profits to be donated to the Conway family. The fundraiser also will include raffle prizes and refreshments throughout the day.

LuLu is looking for raffle prizes for the event, or donations may be made directly to an account set up for Danielle at the Greater Nevada Credit Union, account No. 868378. Donations also are being accepted by the Wild Horse Children’s Theater, which has formed the Kyra Conway Scholarship Fund to allow other children to experience live theater through productions, classes and workshops.

For more information about the fundraiser, contact Nicole or Michelle at LuLu at (775) 588-7510 or at nicole@luluhairdesign.com.
