The El Dorado County Mental Health Commission South Lake Tahoe, which advises the El Dorado County Mental Health Department, is seeking new board members. Appointments are with the approval of the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.
Board members are volunteers from the South Lake Tahoe community and receive no compensation for their services. No contract provider of the mental-health department or person married to an employee of the department or its contract providers may be appointed to the commission.
The South Lake Tahoe Commission meets for approximately two hours beginning at noon Wednesdays each month. If you are interested in the oversight of services for the seriously mentally ill and would like to apply, call Denise at (530) 318-4019.
The South Lake Tahoe chapter of the Widowed Persons Association of California has embarked on a year of activities.
Between 40 to 50 widowed men and women enjoy social activities or, in some cases, an understanding ear.

Vegan cookbook author Colleen Patrick-Goudreau will discuss myths and facts about the vegetarian lifestyle at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Lake Tahoe Community College student center cafeteria.
LTCC culinary arts students will prepare and serve food from recipes in the author’s cookbook. Tickets are $7 and are available online at http://www.ltcc.edu/newa.asp, or at the LTCC bookstore.

The Easter Bunny will be at the Bijou Longs Drugs store on Saturday and at the Longs store at the “Y” on Sunday. He will greet children and pose for free photos from 8 a.m. to noon both days.
