Kayak roll sessions will take place from 8 to 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday through June 24 at the South Lake Tahoe Recreation & Swim Pool Complex.

The cost is $5 per boater per date, and participants need their own kayak.

There is a lifeguard on deck during these practice sessions. The rolling sessions are co-sponsored by Kayak Tahoe.

Call Kayak Tahoe in advance for instruction and availability of rentals at (530) 544-2011.

There will be a one-evening introduction to kayak rolling class from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 29.

The focus of the class includes equipment, paddling, bracing, rolling and rescues.

Then join the Friends of the Library for a volunteer symposium from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 30 at the South Lake Tahoe Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd.

The purpose of the symposium is to gather service and volunteer organizations in one venue and invite the public to come meet representatives of those groups.

The public can explore the various volunteer opportunities and find the best match for their interests and lifestyle.

Space is limited to one or two representatives per group, depending on the response.
