The South Lake Tahoe Breast Cancer Support Group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Anyone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer and would like to meet and share information with other women is welcome to attend. For more information contact Judi Sparrow at (775) 586-1066.

Sign up for swim lessons

Sign-ups are going on now for summer swim lessons at the South Lake Tahoe Parks & Recreation Swim Pool Complex. Don’t wait to sign up as there are limited spaces available for these classes. Register for all classes at the Recreation Complex, 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. For more information call (530) 542-6056 or visit the complex.

Group swim lessons for ages 3 to 13 begin July 20 for morning or evening classes and July 17 for Saturday classes. The cost is $35 for any of the six-class, 40-minute sessions.

Private swim lessons are going on now for all ages and abilities. The cost is $20 per half-hour for one student. Stop by the Recreation Complex to check out times and instructors’ availability.

Back this summer are swim clinics. There are nine different clinics, running from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday or Thursday. The cost is $10 per clinic. Students must be able to strongly swim a minimum of 25 yards. Space is limited, so sign up now.

Fire reports available

The North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection Districts’ Community Wildlife Threat Assessment Project reports are available for public review and comment. Copies are available at the following locations:

— Incline Village Library, 846 Tahoe Blvd., Incline Village. (NLTFPD report only.)

— Douglas County Library, 233 Warrior Way, Zephyr Cove. (TDFPD report only.)

— North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, 866 Oriole Way, Incline Village. (NLTFPD report only.)

— Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District, 193 Elks Point Road, Round Hill. (TDFPD report only.)

— Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, 128 Market Street, Stateline.

— Incline Village General Improvement District, 893 Southwood Blvd., Incline Village.

The public is encouraged to review the report and submit comments. Comments must be received by the close of business July 22 to be considered for purposes of the comment process. Gatsby Festival drawing tickets

The annual Great Gatsby Festival, slated Aug. 14 and 15 at the Tallac Historic Site, announces its pre-festival drawing.

Nearly 30 local businesses contributed more than $3,000 in prizes, including a two-night package at the Embassy Suites with breakfast and cocktails, one night at Sorensen’s Resort, dinner in the Mirabell Restaurant, two nights at Embassy Vacation Resort including two rounds of golf and dinner for two, lift tickets for two at Sugar Bowl, a champagne cruise aboard the Woodwind II, Walleys Resort Spa for two, and dinner for two at Josh’s Restaurant at the Horizon Casino Resort.

The drawing for these prizes and more will take place during the Great Gatsby Festival sponsored by the Tahoe Heritage Foundation in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service, which manages the Tallac Historic Site.

Tickets are one for $1, six for $5 and 12 for $10. They are available for purchase from any Tahoe Heritage Foundation board member, at the Baldwin Museum at the Tallac Historic Site and by calling (530) 544-7383. A limited number of tickets will be sold. Winners need not be present at the drawing and will be notified of their prizes. Proceeds from ticket sales will go toward fulfilling the Tahoe Heritage Foundation mission statement, which is to preserve and protect the cultural heritage and natural history resources of the Lake Tahoe Basin through restoration, interpretation and education.
